| Charles P. Adkins, founder and President of Adkins & Company, Inc., has over 32 years of experience in the construction industry. Before founding Adkins & Company in 1994, Charlie's extensive and broad-based experience included 11 years with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; 7 years as a project manager and construction company executive; and 8 years as an expert witness and consulting executive, serving as the National Director of Surety and Contract Consulting Services at Grant Thornton, and prior to that as a Vice-President for High-Point Schaer, where he managed their eastern operation & consulting practice. | |
Charlie's construction consulting expertise includes strong credentials and proven capabilities in the evaluation of delayed, impacted, or problem projects; the prevention and resolution of contract disputes; the assessment and crisis management of financially-troubled engineering or construction firms; the investigation and resolution of insurance claims, to include surety claims consulting and A/E professional liability defense work; bankruptcy consulting and problem loan workouts; and the management of contracting programs and entities. His extensive and varied background of service to virtually all types of participants in the construction industry gives him a uniquely comprehensive perspective, enhancing his capacity to assess crises and to resolve disputes. Charlie holds a bachelor's degree in Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, masters' degrees in Civil Engineering and in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, and a master of business administration degree in Business/Financial Management from Long Island University. He is a registered professional engineer in seven states, a member of several professional and honorary engineering societies, and has served as an arbitrator on the construction panel of the American Arbitration Association. Charlie has also served as an Assistant Professor at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York, where he taught mechanical engineering. |
